Sourav Ganguly became the first casualty of the India-Sri Lanka series and has been left out of the Rest of India squad for the Irani Trophy match, starting on September 24, in Vadodara. Mohammad Kaif, picked from the India A side after his 94 against Australia A, has been preferred to Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and S Badrinath.

Ashok Dinda, the Bengal medium-pacer, also got a surprise call-up to the squad that is meant to feature probables for the Australia series in October.
